A Senior Zscaler Subject Matter Expert (SME) works closely with network engineers, security architects, and cloud teams to ensure seamless deployment, operation, and troubleshooting of Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) solutions. This role is crucial for maintaining secure and reliable access for enterprise environments. The SME will operate within a NOC structure, providing expert-level support for both proactive and reactive incident handling.
What you will do:
- Operate and manage Zscaler solutions (ZIA and ZPA) in a fast-paced NOC environment.
- Opportunity to work alongside Global Security and network/cloud Architects to align Zscaler deployments with security standards and business requirements.
- Hands-on experience with large-scale cloud security and access management solutions.
- Lead configuration tuning, troubleshooting complex issues, and root cause analysis across Zscaler services.
- Participate in global service improvement initiatives and automation efforts for security operations.
- Continuous learning environment through exposure to latest cloud security trends and technologies.
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams across networking, security, and cloud platforms.
What makes you a good fit:
- Strong expertise in Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) architecture, deployment, policy design, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to configure, fine-tune, and troubleshoot ZIA/ZPA for different user profiles (roaming, branch users, third-party access, etc.).
- Experience in NOC/SOC environment handling incidents related to cloud-based proxy, VPN replacement technologies, and access control.
- Deep understanding of cloud security concepts (CASB, DLP, SSL Inspection, Threat Protection, Zero Trust Network Access).
- Strong troubleshooting skills involving user/device authentication (SAML, SCIM, Azure AD integration) and access flows.
- Experience with security log analysis, packet captures, and performance optimisation.
- Good understanding of enterprise networking (routing, switching, firewall rules, IPSec/SSL VPN) and internet traffic flows.
- Hands-on experience with Zscaler tools such as ZDX, App Connector, ZPA Public Service Edges, and troubleshooting tools.
- Ability to document root cause analyses, create runbooks, and drive knowledge sharing sessions within the team. University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field is preferred.
- Good knowledge of scripting (Python, PowerShell) for automation is a plus. ITIL or equivalent process knowledge for incident, change, and problem management. Excellent English communication skills – both written and spoken. Strong analytical thinking, open-mindedness, and a proactive approach to learning and ownership.
- Experience: 5-7 years.
